Time to explore what matters to you

Individual counselling offers a regular, confidential opportunity to talk through your experiences, relationships and the things you want to understand better. There is no particular way you need to approach it. We can begin with what feels relevant to you and see where the conversation takes us.

Counselling in Brighton & Hove and online

I offer 50-minute sessions in person near Preston Park, as well as online sessions across the UK. The fee is £65 per session, and you can arrange a free 15-minute introductory call before deciding whether to begin.

About individual sessions
What we can explore

Reasons men come to counselling

There isn't a single reason to seek counselling, and you don't need to fit yourself into a category. These are some of the subjects I work with regularly.

I also work with anxiety, work-related stress, burnout, life transitions and questions about direction or purpose.

The approach

Counselling built around conversation

My approach is humanistic and relational. That means paying attention to your experience as you understand it, rather than working from a set of assumptions about what you should feel or do.

We'll talk about whatever you want to bring, including the things that may be difficult to explain. Sometimes that involves looking at patterns in relationships, decisions you've made or questions about what matters to you. At other times, the most useful thing is to give an experience proper attention.

I won't tell you how to live your life. My role is to listen carefully, ask questions and work alongside you as you develop your own understanding.

Who you'll be speaking with

I'm John, founder of MEN TALK TOO

I'm a qualified humanistic counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I founded MEN TALK TOO to offer men a dedicated place to explore their lives and experiences through counselling.

My work is grounded in the relationship we build. I value being able to talk openly, think together and make room for different perspectives, without expecting you to present yourself in a particular way.
